Character Design Tutorial by MagicalZombie Character Design Tutorial by MagicalZombie
It says in the intro, but I'll say it again; this is not a tutorial on how to draw and color! It's how I brainstorm and how I come up with ways to design tutorials. I have been asked multiple times, so I figured it'd be something helpful to put up!

But no means is this the right way, it's merely MY way. If you have any questions, feel free to comment, and I'll do what I can to help!

Gargoyle in a habit. I like it! Very neat tutorial. It's always fun to see what goes on in other artists' brains.

It clicks very well! I'm surprised I've never seen it done before.

Thank you so much! I've been wanting to design an assortment of characters but when I draw them they look a little...awkward as I'm mostly making it up as I go along. This will help me, I think. :>

Also, loving the feet you put on her! :D

The way you come up with a character sure seem complicated. Sometimes I find ideas from random doodles when I thought "Hey this part of the doodle is nice, I'll note this for the next character design" and then eventually adding these notes into one and come up with one character.

For example, this character of mine is the end result of that thinking pattern of mine [link]

My fascination of "ear-like hair", "aho-ge", "ribbons", "red-head", "priestess" and "tiny girl with big weapon" added into one. XD

As I said, it's just how I do things. XD I like a nice balance with my designs and colors, so I was more showing that aspect of things.

I base a lot of my creations around cultures, species, and clothing; but I love detail and getting really into the thick of things.
